When writing college admissions essays, is it best to be as creative in writing them as possible? Is it possible that being too creative with an essay will be a disadvantage?

I think it would be tough to be "too creative," you just need make sure it works. Get an English teacher to look at it, some of your smarter friends, maybe a parent or an adult you trust.

It has to work and it should show you in a good light. Using anecdotes is common, so that's not too creative. I'd definitely check it by some people before or bounce your ideas off of someone. In college admissions, it's hard to define a "bad risk." Like I said before, it just has to work, flow, be interesting. If it doesn't work, you're screwed haha.
